APPEAL BY JOCKEY SAIFUDIN BIN ISMAIL (I SAIFUDIN) AGAINST THE SIX (6) DAYS SUSPENSION IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS IN CONNECTION WITH HIS HANDLING OF RACEHORSE JUN TU IN RACE 2 (R992), SATURDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER 2007, 1ST DAY OF THE PENANG TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2007, UNDER MRA RULE 44(9)(c).

 

The Stipendiary Stewards found Jockey Saifudin Bin Ismail, the rider of Jun Tu, guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) on 6th October 2007. The particulars of the charge are: -

 

.1   approaching the 200M,he permitted his mount to shift in, carrying GOOD BEE  BEE (App S Sandana) onto AMARO UNO (App HK Lim) which struck the running rail, checked severely, stumbled and dislodged App HK Lim.

 

2.     Jockey Saifudin Bin Ismail was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) race days with effect from Monday,8th October 2007 and to expire on 21st October 2007, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

 

3.     Jockey Saifudin Bin Ismail subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on him. On application he was granted a Stay of Sentence.

 

4.     The Race Meeting Stewards Hearing of the Appeal was concluded on Wednesday 19th December 2007.

 

5.     After considering submissions from Jockey Saifudin Bin Ismail and the Stipendiary Steward, and after considering all the evidence, the appeal was dismissed and the suspension was increased to eight (8) days to commence with effect 19th December 2007 and to expire on 2nd January 2008,both days inclusive. The Racing Stewards also ordered the deposit of RM1,000 be forfeited.
