Race Results 1 May 2022

MR DREYFUSS and HOOGA NET, both course scratching as they had sustained cellulitis near fore cannon and was knocked off fore foot respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor, ROBBEN was withdrawn due to a capacity field.     

MAJESTY WARRIOR (KC Tham) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of DARCI SUPER (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry into the running and handling of HEART FEELING and after taking evidence from Jockey R Narendran and Trainer T Asogan, the rider and trainer of HEART FEELING respectively and reviewing the video, Jockey R Narendran pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.  The details of the charge were that he failed to give sufficient rein to HEART FEELING on jumping, resulting in the mare being unable to race to its best advantage.   

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey R Narendran’s guilty plea, his riding record and mitigating factors.  Jockey R Narendran was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months effective from Monday, 2^nd May 2022 and to expire on Tuesday, 1^st November 2022, both days inclusive.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5.10pm).  

FLEDGELING and ZILFIKAR, both course scratching as they were bruised near fore suspensory and had generalised skin allergy reaction respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HALLELUJAH (SU Lim) was slow into stride.

GHOST AFFAIR (App N Varmah) and SUNNY STAR (S Saddam) brushed at approximately the 1000M-mark.

AMAZING CHOICE (App A Nazir) was pulling hard in the early stages.

NOVA FACTOR (S Ruzaini) was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of NOVA FACTOR revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Trainer F Maynard was questioned with regard to the improved performance of AMAZING CHOICE.  He explained that in its previous run, AMAZING CHOICE had jumped awkwardly and brushed the gate, resulting in it missing the start.  Today, he was confident if the horse had a good start, that it would run well and it did so accordingly.  His explanation was noted.  However, his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running.

LEESTOWN EXPRESS, MAKE U FAMOUS and BIG SUPER were all course scratching.  LEESTOWN EXPRESS had sustained cellulitis near hind leg, MAKE U FAMOUS had sustained cellulitis near fore leg and BIG SUPER had respiratory infection.  Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MARCUS ANTONIUS (App S Hafis) and TILSWORTH MICK (KC Wong) were tightened on jumping when racing tight between MA BAO BAO (App A Nazir) on the outside and SUNNY FIGHTER (S Saddam) on the inside.

GOLDEN SHOW (Y Aify) was crowded shortly after the start between PULAU PINANG (App N Varmah) and CALVADOS (S Ruzaini).          

App YY Oon, the rider of MODRIC, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of MODRIC revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CITY KNIGHT (HK Cheng) returned cut into near hind coronet and PULAU PINANG returned having cast its off hind plate.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry into the running and handling of MODRIC and after taking evidence from App YY Oon in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer B Ng and Trainer S Hamilton, the trainer of MODRIC and after reviewing the video, App YY Oon pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.  The details of the charge were that he failed to give sufficient rein to MODRIC on jumping, resulting in him being unable to ride MODRIC to instructions which were to be handy.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into account App YY Oon’s guilty plea, his riding record and mitigating factors.  App YY Oon was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months effective from Monday, 2^nd May 2022 and to expire on Tuesday, 1^st November 2022, both days inclusive.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.25pm).  

I LOVE YOU which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

I LOVE YOU (KC Wong) jumped awkwardly.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of NIGHT LIGHT, was fined a sum of RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip at the 200M-mark. 

YOGI, a course scratching as it was knocked off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor, SHANGANI was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

WILLOW SPRINGS (S Salee) jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 800M-mark, WILLOW SPRINGS shifted inwards, carrying CITY OF DREAM (KC Tham) inwards, resulting in BIG BUS (App N Nuqman) becoming crowded and having to check.  At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey S Salee pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and he was suspended for two (2) race days with effect from Monday, 2^nd May 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 8^th May 2022, both days inclusive.  He was informed of his Right of Appeal (4.10pm).

Over the concluding stages, WILLOW SPRINGS shifted in over the heels of MYO (WK Lee) to obtain clear running and in so doing, bumped POLO BOY (K Eirwan).

A post-race veterinary examination of FLYING BABY (AM Aizat) revealed no obvious abnormality.

KRATOS, a course scratching as it was sore near fore foot – nail pricked, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CAORUNN (S Salee) jumped awkwardly.

D’GREAT STRIKE (J Low) was hanging in at the early and middle stages.

At approximately the 700M-mark, IAMBUTTER (S Ruzaini) steadied in a tightly-bunched field, resulting in D’GREAT STRIKE which was following, having to steady. 

A post-race veterinary examination of CASTLE OCEAN (K Eirwan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

MYSTICAL STAR (App S Hafis) was slow into stride.

Approaching the 200M-mark, GURNEY DRIVE (AM Aizat) rolled outwards slightly, brushing BACK TO THE FUTURE (Y Aify).

TONGARIRO, a course scratching as it was knocked near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards permitted App N Varmah to replace Jockey HS Gill as the rider of PENANG BANK as there was no other suitable rider available.

CROWN DELIGHT (App WW Cheah) was slow into stride.

The saddle on BIG POWER (App R Nuqman) slipped back on jumping, resulting in the gelding becoming bucking and ducking outwards shortly, resulting in App R Nuqman losing the use of his stirrup irons and being unable to assist his mount thereafter.

The saddle on CROWN DELIGHT (App WW Cheah) slipped back in the running.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BULLSEYE (S Ruzaini) returned having cast its near hind plate.

Trainer HS Lim will be questioned regarding the improved performance of  SACRED GALAXY (R Rueven).
