RACE 1 (R182) CLASS 5 (B) – 1700M

 MOMENT OF JUSTICE (App S Shazmin) was slow into stride.

JEFFREY (App N Sharonnizam) was caught wide in the early stages and raced wide throughout.

ALWRICH (HK Cheng) steadied momentarily at approximately the 1200M-mark.

At about the 400M-mark, GURNEY DRIVE (KP Lim) steadied off the heels of MGR ROCKET (Z Khairil).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SOON YOU THINK (App S Sia) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of JEFFREY revealed that the gelding returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

YOUARETHEBEST, a course scratching as it had sustained float injury (multiple cuts), will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

DARK KNIGHT (App N Sharonnizam) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, EKRAAR PHOENIX (WK Lee) was crowded and had to steady when LEGACY FIGHTER (KC Tham) jumped awkwardly outwards.

A post-race veterinary examination of MISS THYRA (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey WK Lee, the rider of EKRAAR PHOENIX, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that whilst riding EKRAAR PHOENIX, he unnecessarily restrained his mount on a number of occasions between the 1300M-mark and the 400M-mark and thereafter, he failed to ride EKRAAR PHOENIX with sufficient vigour and determination when his mount was running on strongly.

When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case, Jockey WK Lee’s points of mitigation and his riding record.   Jockey WK Lee was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from Monday, 20^th February 2023 and to expire on Monday, 19^th June 2023, both days inclusive. In addition, he was fined a sum of RM20,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Twenty Thousand).  He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.35pm).

AIR BOSS, BUDDY SIXTY-ONE and DISCRETELY RED are all course scratching as they had sustained a stone bruise near fore sole, sore back and off fore sole bruise respectively.  Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer B Ng was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to fit a tongue-tie on PERFECT MISSION (KC Tham) as declared.

STAR GENIUS (S Saddam) and SORBETA (App S Sia) were both slow into stride.

App R Ruwaidy (QIJI LOVE) was shown the video of his ride in the straight.  He explained that he got his whip entangled in the reins at approximately the 100M-mark which the Stewards were able to verify.  However, App R Ruwaidy was warned that he must ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SHENG PROISIR ((App N

Sharonnizam) returned cut into its off hind lateral cannon.

A post-race veterinary examination of QIJI LOVE revealed no obvious abnormality.

DAWNBREAKER (App N Sharonnizam) was slow into stride.

Approaching the 1000M-mark, CHAR SIEW (KP Lim) which was pulling hard, bumped the hind quarters of LUCK HAPPY (M Ewe) and had to check.  In this incident, LUCK HAPPY  which was racing on the outside of CHAR SIEW became unbalanced and was inconvenienced.   

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BRISTOL DIAMOND (HS Gill) returned lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CHAR SIEW revealed no obvious abnormality. 

CANDY RAIN, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT EMPRESS (J Low) was pulling hard in the early and middle stages.

PENNSYLVANIA (Z Khairil) was obliged to race wide on the turn.

At approximately the 150M-mark, Jockey WK Lee (ELUSIVE EMPEROR) dropped his left-side rein which he was able to regain shortly thereafter.

The saddle on HAPPY LUCKY STAR (App S Shazmin) slipped back in the running.

A post-race veterinary examination of HELLO MONDAY (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (Z Khairil) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barrier and was passed fit to race.

Shortly after the start, D’GREAT CHANCE (J Low) was inconvenienced when SUNTZU       (M Ewe) rolled inwards slightly.

VK BOY (Z Khairil) jumped awkwardly.

YOU ARE GENIUS (S Saddam) was slow into stride.

A post-race veterinary examination of VK BOY revealed no obvious abnormality.
