RACE 1 (R464) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M

ULURU, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

IRON FIST which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer HY Cheng was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to ensure that the bit on ANOTHER SHOW ( AK Lim) was properly fitted.

SPEEDY SWALLOW (S Saddam) which was difficult and unable to be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1.05 pm.  The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

MYSTICAL STAR (CK Khaw) and ALWRICH (KP Lim) were both slow into stride.

BIG POWER (App R Nuqman) raced wide rounding the turn and into the straight.

Passing the 1200M, CLOUD SHADOW (App R Ruwaidy) was crowded for room between CHER (Z Khairil) and ANOTHER SHOW (AK Lim).

The saddle on POWER EXPRESS (R Rueven) slipped backwards during running.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ATLANTIC ARROW (Y Aify) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of ALWRICH reported that his mount was not striding out freely and was making abnormal respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of ALWRICH revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of POWER EXPRESS, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of POWER EXPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.    

Post-race veterinary examinations of LIM’S HOPEFULLY (HK Cheng) and BIG POWER revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptors, BEIJING STAR, EL PRIMERO and LIM’S KEYWAY were all  withdrawn due to a capacity field.

JET BLACK (App A Azizi), GURNEY DRIVE (KP Lim), SUNNY FIGHTER (App WW Cheah) and MAZANZE (CK Khaw) were all slow into stride.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that QIJI LOVE (App R Ruwaidy) and TK STAR     

(Z Khairil) both returned having cast their near hind plate and off hind plate respectively.

A post-race veterinary examination of GURNEY DRIVE  revealed no obvious abnormality.

TAIWAN CAPTAIN (KP Lim) raced wide in the back straight.

BACK TO THE FUTURE (Z Khairil) was trapped wide rounding the turn.

Passing the 600M-mark SHANGHAI CAPTAIN (App P Haris) had to steady when BACK TO THE FUTURE rolled in.  Jockey Z Khairil was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future, failing which action may be taken.

Passing the 200M-mark, RULE THE WORLD (R Rueven) shifted over the heels of BACK TO THE FUTURE for clear running. 

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUCCESS STREET (Y Aify) and TAIWAN CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

D’GREAT DUCHESS (M Ewe) was slow into stride.

BIG DOCTOR (App R Nuqman) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

GOLDEN SARDINE (App P Haris) shifted over the heels of QIJI DIAMOND (Z Khairil) entering the straight and carried D’GREAT DUCHESS wide.  App P Haris was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of QIJI DIAMOND, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of QIJI DIAMOND revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.  

A post-race veterinary examination of GOLDEN SARDINE revealed no obvious abnormality.

PENANG GENERAL (App WW Cheah) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind barriers and was passed fit to race.

BIG MONKEY (App R Nuqman) had to check when MISS THYRA (Z Khairil) jumped awkwardly outwards and CAVANA (App P Haris) jumped awkwardly inwards.

SUPREME SUCCESS (S Anandan) dipped shortly after the start.

Passing the 100M-mark, the whip of App N Shahronnizam (LEGACY FIGHTER) got entangled with the mane.

Over the concluding stages, BRING IT WIN (App Z Syafifie) and LEGACY FIGHTER bumped.

App WW Cheah, the rider of PENANG GENERAL, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of PENANG GENERAL revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of MISS THYRA, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of MISS THYRA revealed no obvious abnormality, however the mare returned with a cut into its near hind pastern.

A post-race veterinary examination of BIG MONKEY revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App Z Syafifie, the rider of BRING IT WIN, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, K Ananthen, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that passing the 1150M-mark, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of MISS THYRA, resulting in MISS THYRA having to check.

When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Z Syafifie’s guilty plea and his riding record.  App Z Syafifie was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from Monday, 1^st May 2023 and to expire on Saturday, 20^th May 2023, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3.55 pm).

Emergency acceptor, TRUDY was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

Acting on veterinary advice that TESORO PUBLICO (R Rueven) was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.37pm.  TESOR PUBLICO will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RADETZKY MARSCH (KP Lim) and SIVAJI ROCKET (App A Azizi) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Acting on veterinary advice that VIETNAM CAPTAIN (App R Ruwaidy) was lame off fore, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.13pm.  VIETNAM CAPTAIN will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

BLAZE PEGASUS (Z Khairil) dislodged its rider en route to the start and ran a considerable distance.   Acting on veterinary advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of BLAZE PEGASUS at 4.14 pm.  The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test (to be ridden unaided to the start) before being declared to race again.

Acting on a report from the Official Starter that GOLD SKY BILLION (App R Nuqman) was difficult and unable to be boxed, and to avoid unnecessary delay, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GOLD SKY BILLION at 4.19 pm.  The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

Passing the 800M, GENERAL NIX (App A Azizi) was crowded between DIRECTOR (App      P Haris) and EMPHATIC (App S Sia).

Post-race veterinary examinations of EMPHATIC and DIRECTOR revealed no obvious abnormality.

An Inquiry into the running and handling of EMPHATIC will be held at a date to be fixed.

SUNNY STAR (L De Souza) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

BAGHDAD (App A Azizi) jumped awkwardly and shortly thereafter, had to steady when BE YOURSELF (HK Cheng) rolled in, resulting in BAGHDAD losing ground.

SUNNY STAR was slow into stride.

Passing the 150M-mark, INVICTUS WARRIOR (KP Lim) ran up onto the heels of BATTLESTAR (CK Khaw) and had to steady outwards for clear running.

At about the 100M-mark, BANGKOK BOY (S Anandan) shifted outwards from the whip and bumped MYSTERIOUS CAPTAIN (App R Ruwaidy) onto GOLDEN SHOW (Z Khairil).  

Post-race veterinary examinations of HAZARD (App Z Syafifie), AUTUMN BLITZ (AK Lim) and D’GREAT EFFORT (V Espindola) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards permitted Jockey L De Souza to replace Jockey S Saddam as the rider of DIAMOND SET when the latter was medically stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

TURF PRINCESS (App S Shazmin) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, D’GREAT EMPRESS (App R Ruwaidy) was crowded between DIAMOND SET and TURF PRINCESS.

Also shortly after the start, NINGALOO (AK Lim) laid inwards and bumped DIAMOND SET onto D’GREAT EMPRESS, resulting in D’GREAT EMPRESS losing ground.

Passing the 200M-mark, MOONGATE (App WW Cheah) and D’GREAT EMPRESS bumped.

The saddle on SUPREMO LEX (KP Lim) slipped backwards during running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUPREMO LEX and D’GREAT EMPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.

This race was re-scheduled to start at 6.05pm due to regional rescheduling.

CAORUNN and SO BEAUTIFUL which were down 16kgs and 17kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were both passed fit to start.

D’GREAT CHANCE (App Z Syafifie) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.

LEGEND NINETY TWO (M Ewe) jumped awkwardly, unbalancing Jockey M Ewe and was slow into stride.

At about the 800M-mark, PROVOCATEUR (App KH Chong) had to steady when AYAAN    (Z Khairil) rolled in.

Passing the 250M-mark, LADY ASTA (Y Aify) drifted out under pressure, carrying CAORUNN (App R Nuqman) outwards and bumped onto AYAAN, resulting in Jockey Z Khairil becoming unbalanced momentarily and from the 100M-mark, AYAAN was held up for clear running. 

The saddle on D’GREAT CHANCE (App Z Syafifie) slipped backwards during running.

App WW Cheah, the rider of NEW GARDEN, was dislodged on pulling up.  He was exempted from weighing in.  App WW Cheah was examined by the Club Medical Officer and was certified fit to ride.

Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of BRIGHT SUN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of BRIGHT SUN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LEGEND NINETY TWO and D’GREAT CHANCE revealed no obvious abnormality.
